Enthusiasts: Home Page

Here you can find books aimed at enthusiasts, along with maps and timetables from the ATP yellow era. The Photos menu item has my own photos of Maltese Buses at Work, in route number order, taken 2006 to 2009 (someday I might add captions). For other photo websites see under Links.

Note that this Enthusiasts section has its own menu structure - to return to the main site please click on the logo above or the link below.

Buses in Malta and Gozo are operated by Malta Public Transport on behalf of the government. Since January 2015 the concession has been held by a Spanish company, Autobuses Urbanos de León. Find out more about how to use public transport in Malta by exploring the menus.

Until 2011 buses in Malta were run by an association of over 400 owners, many of whom drove their own buses. A good proportion of the vehicles were traditional types with locally built bodies, and a few have been beautifully restored to offer vintage tours and private hire.

Hop-on hop-off open top bus tours are an ideal way to see the sights in both Malta and Gozo. They are run by private companies to fixed schedules and tickets are valid all day. Tickets bought in advance often include transfers to and from your hotel. Don't forget your sun hat!
